First Stakes-Winner for Americain

Swettenham Stud's Melbourne Cup hero Americain (USA) has sired his first stakes-winner with four year-old mare Causeforcommotion winning the Possibly Perfect Stakes at Santa Anita on the weekend.

AmericainTrained by Eric Kruljac, Causeforcommotion had won twice previously and was recently second in the Group III Santa Anita Santa Barbara Stakes so was readt to go one better.

She settled back in the field and found the line strongly to win the 1 ¼ mile turf contest by a length taking her overall record to three wins and seven placings from 14 starts with prizemoney just shy of $200,000.

Causeforcommotion is the best of three winners from Giant's Causeway mare Causey, a half-sister to Group III winner Actress.

The oldest Australian progeny of Americain are about to turn four and he has sired 17 winners here this season including two stakes horses in American Joy and Amerock.

He stands at Swettenham Stud at a fee of $11,000.
