Aussie Bred Voyage Bubble Goes Back to Back in G1 HK International Mile

Tara Madgwick - Sunday December 14

Torryburn Stud have bred and sold some great horses, but none better than Deep Field gelding Voyage Bubble, who scored a tenacious victory in the Group I HK International Mile (1600m) at Sha Tin on Sunday for the second year in a row.

Trained by Ricky Yiu and ridden by Zac Purton, 7YO Voyage Bubble relived the glory days when kicking back hard to beat Japanese rival Soul Rush by half a length.

The same two horses ran the quinella in this race last year, although on that occasion James McDonald was in the saddle.

Voyage Bubble was bought by his trainer for $380,000 at Inglis Classic from the Torryburn draft and topped the sale in 2020. He has the overall record of 12 wins and 11 placings from 27 starts.

Voyage Bubble is a half-brother to Group III winner Diddums (dam of stakes-winner Stardom) and stakes-placed Brettan being the best of seven winners from seven to race out of good producer Raheights, who has a yearling filly by Home Affairs.

His now retired sire Deep Field is the reigning champion sire in Hong Kong and his progeny have dominated in the region in recent times.
