Ka Ying Rising Leads Kiwi Bred Domination of G1 HK International Sprint

Tara Madgwick - Sunday December 14

It was a Kiwi bred first four in the G1 Hong Kong International Sprint (1200m) on Sunday with raging hot favourite Ka Ying Rising extending his unbeaten sequence to 16 wins as fans and punters expected.

Drawn in gate one, the David Hayes trained son of Shamexpress went forward to lead for Zac Purton and that was that.

He made a mess of his rivals when let go in the straight and coasted to the line to win by a commanding four lengths over three more Kiwi breds Raging Blizzard (Per Incanto (USA)), Fast Network (Wrote (IRE) and Lucky Sweynesse (Sweynesse).

Zac Purton knows Ka Ying Rising better than anyone and expected the five year-old gelding to dazzle the crowd and he did exactly that.

Ka Ying Rising has the overall record of 17 wins and two seconds from 19 starts and barring misadventure it looks hard to see him being beaten when he returns to Australia next year for another crack at the $20million The Everest.

Ka Ying Rising is the first winner for Missy Moo, a five time winning Per Incanto (USA) mare that traces directly back to blue hen Taiona, the dam of Group I winners Sovereign Red, Gurner’s Lane and Trichelle with the family also producing modern day superstar Mr Brightside.

Both Mr Brightside and Ka Ying rising have Taiona as their fourth dam!
