Miss Joelene on Target for Magic Millions Riches

Tara Madgwick - Saturday December 13

Placed in a G1 Queensland Oaks at three and winner of the $200,000 Listed BRC Tattersall’s Gold Crown at the end of last season, Russian Revolution mare Miss Jolene is primed for a lucrative summer campaign following a barnstorming win in the Listed BRC Tails Stakes (1500m) at Eagle Farm.

Trained by Kelly Schweida and ridden by Cejay Graham, Miss Joelene made light of her 59kg and showed her class when powering home to win by a length.

Now that Miss Joelene is back in winning form she will head to some rich target races at the Gold Coast next month.

"Things didn't work out for us at Caloundra (last start), but this mare ran right through the line," Schweida said.

"To be fair, I think she has been absolutely flying.

"The 1500m today is probably a bit on the short side for her, but that's probably why she was the odds she was in betting.

"She is likely to head towards The Wave ($500,000), which she won last year, and then a week later she will back-up in the Subzero ($1million).

"She is one of those horses who just thrives the more work she has."

Russian Revolution is the sire of Miss joelene.

A modest  $20,000 purchase by her trainer out of the Kenmore Lodge draft at the 2022 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale, Miss Joelene has been a pin-up for the stable, winning seven races and placing 10 times from 32 starts with earnings topping $1.1million.

Miss Joelene is the best of two winners from stakes-winning More than Ready (USA) mare Cellargirl, who died prematurely after having just two live foals.

She comes with a big pedigree tracing back to fourth dam Tristram Lady, the dam of Champion 3YO Filly Triscay.

She continues a run of winning success for her sire Russian Revolution, who sired Libertad to win the recent Group I WATC Winterbottom Stakes.

Russian Revolution has 26 entries for Magic Millions 2026 and 11 each for Inglis Classic and Inglis Premier.
