MRC to host Thursday trials at Caulfield Heath

Media Release - Wednesday December 10

The Melbourne Racing Club (MRC) continues its official trials program, hosting 92 horses across 12 trials on Thursday 11 December from 7:30am and the juvenile heat features three youngsters by Home Affairs.

Ten juveniles will step out over 850 metres, including six graduates of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale who may progress to the $250,000 Magic Millions Victorian 2YO Classic (1100m) at Caulfield Heath on December 20.

Oman, a $270,000 yearling whose grand dam produced dual Group 1 winner Hot Danish, is the only raced two-year-old in the heat. Marffiano, Sayalero, Guest House, Invincible Son and Tindale were also purchased at the Gold Coast last January.

Marffiano, half-brother to Blue Diamond Stakes third placegetter Tycoon Star, was the highest-priced of the group when making $475,000 at auction.

Sayalero, a $425,000 yearling, also boasts a strong pedigree page. Her grand dam Runaway Jesse produced Group 3 winner Eloping, dam of dual Group 1 winner In Secret.

Trainer Grahame Begg will saddle two notable triallers later in the morning. 2024 Sportsbet Hareeba Stakes (1200m) winner Maharba is the highest prizemoney earner set to trial having collected $952,600 from 17 starts.

Five-time winning stablemate Samangu is expected to use Thursday’s outing as a pivotal workout ahead of resuming in a benchmark 90 handicap over 1000 metres at Caulfield Heath on December 20.
