As the fastest ever 2yo over the Randwick 1000m when winning the Inglis Nursey at his only ever start, Fastnet Rock’s son Acrobat has proven extremely popular at stud, and on Sunday at the Sunshine Coast, the Paul Shailer trained Acrodance became his first winner.
Impressing in her most recent barrier trial over 850m, pulling clear to win by two and a half lengths, the Ryan Maloney ridden filly started a short-priced favourite in the field of seven, jumping away from barrier five in the Broncos Game Development QTIS 2YO Maiden Plate (1000m).

Dropping back towards the tail after the jump, Acrodance settled with just the Snitzel colt Midwinter behind her while Wanted filly I’lltellyouanytime went forward to take up the running.
With I’lltellyouanytime still leading as the field entered the home straight, Maloney was forced to come across the heels of the three runners ahead of him to come out wide to make a run.
Hitting the lead with about 75m to run, Acrodance pulled clear to record a winning debut, defeating Maganista with I’lltellyouanytime holding on for third.
Bred by Nandowra Bloodstock Investment Trust and Costa Charalambous, Acrodance is the first foal out of the two-time winning Choisir mare Irresistible Miss, a half-sister to the Listed-winning, Group 2 placed Pretty In Pink and the Group 2 placed Yoshinobu.
From the extended family of Group 1 winners The Mitigator as well as dual WS Cox Plate winner Fields Of Omagh, Irresistible Miss has gone back to Acrobat in the proceeding two seasons, foaling a colt last season before a filly in mid-August this year.

Passed in shy of her $30,000 reserve when consigned through the Riverstone Lodge draft at the Magic Millions National yearling sale, Acrodance is raced by James Bester and Charas Bloodstock Pty Ltd.
Having covered over 500 mares in his first three seasons at stud at a fee of $13,750 (inc. GST), Acrobat is currently wrapping up his fourth season at Coolmore where he stood this year at a fee of $11,000 (inc. GST).
