Closer Look at an Unexpected Success

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday November 26

He is the leading sire of 3YOs so far this season and is set to have a huge impact on the yearling sales of 2026, so we are taking a closer look at this stalwart sire, whose long term impact is only just beginning.

Street Boss (USA) is a sire that does not fit the mould for expected stud success in Australia and yet this likable chestnut has never been in a more high profile position than he is right now at age 21.

Unraced at two, this US bred dirt tracking sprinter, that achieved a career best G1 win as a 4YO,  shot to sire stardom in Australia when producing the best horse in the country from his eighth crop at stud.

Anamoe was a genuinely elite racehorse that did pretty much of everything as a G1 winner at two, three and four with nine G1 wins highlighted by a memorable Cox Plate victory and his first yearlings will be offered in 2026.

Most stallions never produce a horse as good as Anamoe, but when you consider Street Boss is by a sire in Street Cry that gave us Winx… it all makes a lot more sense.

Anamoe has his first yearlings selling in 2026.

As buyers get ready for those 2026 sales and the first test of Anamoe in the marketplace it’s interesting to take a look back at how Street Boss got to where he is as it’s hardly a road well travelled.

There were four years in the commercial wilderness at a fee of $11,000 and then a surge to popularity off the back of Anamoe and it’s worth noting his 3YO crop that includes superstars Tentyris and Tempted were conceived in the Hunter Valley when his fee was doubled, although he is now back at Darley Victoria.
