Third Season Judgement Day

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday November 25

When the oldest progeny of a stallion turn four there is nowhere left to hide so a look at the third season sire table at the end of spring can be an interesting one when we take it conjunction with what will be happening at the sales in 2026.

A lot of time has passed since these guys first went to stud in 2020, so where are they at?  And if you like one or more of them, where will you be able to buy them in 2026?

Click for the fully interactive table so you can find out more about theses sires.

Two time Coolmore shuttler Calyx (GB) sits on top of the list thanks to his top class four year-old son Sepals, who won the Group I MRC Sir Rupert Clark Stakes and then finished a gallant second in the $10million Golden Eagle to Autumn Glow.

Let’s be honest here, Calyx was not popular in Australia and covered just 124 mares in his two SH seasons  here, so he falls into that category of being a left of centre sire, but as often happens… they all get one!

Too Darn Hot (GB) promises to be sale ring gold in 2026.

Too Darn Hot (GB) has returned to Darley Australia this spring as a conquering hero with his fee set at a whopping $275,000, while his barn mate Blue Point (IRE) was absent after five seasons here at a fee of $44,000.

Too Darn Hot has four SW’s on the board for this spring and they show exactly why he is so highly regarded with his older horses Tropicus and Too Darn Discreet adding new stakes success to their already good records, while he has also so added two new juveniles SW’s Tornado Valley and Shiki.

Below are the Top 15 (minus Calyx) third season sires from the table above in that order with their break up for 2026 sales and 2025 fee.
