Jenny Graham Couldn't Be Happier with Captivant!

Media Release - Monday November 24

Captivant’s first crop son Vantorix made an immediate impact at Taree yesterday, producing a professional and dominant performance to win the National Thoroughbred Week Maiden Plate (1005m) by two and a half lengths on debut.

Trained by Jenny Graham, the two-year-old gelding stepped out off the back of a strong trial win and showed maturity beyond his age, taking on and convincingly defeating the older horses.

“Beating the older horses the way he did as an early two-year-old, and then just easing down to the line, was very impressive," Graham said

“He’s a very smart horse, and whatever we do next will be about looking after him.

“Captivant's progeny are sharp and switched on and Vantorix has that natural professionalism you love to see in a young horse," Graham added.

Vantorix is the fifth foal out of Listed MRC Debutant Stakes placegetter Miss Loren and a half-brother to G3 San Domenico Stakes winner Raging Force. Bred by Dr Richard McClenahan, he was first sold at the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale before being secured by Jenny Graham from Mullaglass Stud’s draft at the 2025 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

Yesterday's result moves Captivant into equal-second on the Australian First Season Sires list for winners, with his early progeny already demonstrating the precocity and professionalism that marked their sire as an elite juvenile.

Captivant closed out his two-year-old season with the second-fastest G1 Champagne Stakes win in history, before returning at three to finish a close 0.5L second to Anamoe in a record-breaking renewal of the G1 Caulfield Guineas.

Captivant stands at Kia Ora Stallions for a fee of $19,800 (inc GST). If you’d like to discuss mating your mare with Captivant this season, please contact Allison Sedgwick on +61 407 768 846.
