Cool Aza Beel Filly Scores at Caulfield – Brother 2026 Inglis Classic

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday November 19

With superstar G1 colt Cool Archie warming up for a summer campaign, his sire Cool Aza Beel has not lacked for new winners over the spring with the Moody / Coleman trained filly Cooly opening her account with a dominant win at Caulfield on Wednesday.

Stepping up in distance to 1500m and taking on older rivals, Cooly was looking to improve on her last start second and found conditions to suit.

She powered clear for Luke Nolen with a furlong to run and won by nearly two lengths racking up a milestone 900th win for the Nolen and Moody, jockey and trainer partnership.

Moody and Nolen have shared multiple Group I wins and were associated with undefeated champion Black Caviar and while Cooly won’t scale those heights, she is a filly with good potential.

A $180,000 Magic Millions purchase for Moody Racing from the Newhaven Park draft, Cooly runs for an ownership group that includes her breeder Billy Slater.

“She’s done a very good job and it’s pleasing to make her a maiden winner and a city winner all in one hit,” said Katherine Coleman.

“Billy and Pete have a great personal and professional relationship and we have a few horses for Billy, so it’s nice to get that win on the board.

“She has had a really good preparation without winning one. We’ll see how she comes through today and then decide whether to push on through her grades.”

Cooly is a three-quarter sister-in-blood to Group III winner Cool Aza Rene and is the third winner from four foals to race from well bred Redoute’s Choice mare Hittite, a sister to Group III placed Mintha and grand-daughter of Champion 2YO Hasna.

Newhaven Park will offer the full brother to Cooly at Inglis Classic as Lot 65 and Hittite has foaled again this spring producing a colt from the first crop of another Newhaven Park based son of Savabeel in Mo’Unga.

Cool Aza Beel has strong entries at Magic Millions and Inglis Classic.

Cool Aza Beel has had three winners since the start of this month and has 15 entries for Magic Millions and 11 for Inglis Classic.
