Invincible Filly Wins $1million G3 Thoroughbred Club Stakes

Tara Madgwick - Saturday November 15

I Am Invincible was expected to have the winner in the $1million Group III MRC Thoroughbred Club Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on Saturday with race favourite My Gladiola coming out of a second placing in the Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes, but it was another daughter of the champion sire that got the cash.

Trained by Anthony and Sam Freedman and ridden by Craig Williams, Inkaruna won the Group III MRC Chairman’s Stakes on debut in February and has raced consistently since without winning.

A last start second in the Group III VRC Red Roses Stakes on Oaks Day, Inkaruna improved off that to score a stylish length and a half win over King’s Legacy filly Kujenga with race favourite My Gladiola a gallant third.

“She was well presented. Sam, Anthony and all the team do a great job as she's quite a full-on horse,” said Craig Williams.

"She stood well in the gates, got a nice start, I was able to control where I wanted to be. She was a little bit on the bridle and had a nice smooth run.

“The blinkers have worked really well and I had the right horse to win a million-dollar race here at the big Caulfield meeting."

A homebred for Kia Ora stud, Inkaruna has two wins and three placigns from seven starts with earnings topping $846,000.

Inkaruna was offered in the Kia Ora Stud draft at Magic Millions where she was passed in shy of her $400,000 reserve, but the Freedmans were keen on the filly and delighted to get her into the stable when the decision was taken to retain her to race.

Inkaruna is the third winner and first stakes-winner from four foals to race from Ravi, a Group III winning Redoute’s Choice mare that was also bred and sold by Kia Ora Stud and passed in and retained when she failed to make a modest $200,000 reserve at the 2014 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

A full sister to stakes-winning sire Elzaam, Ravi has a yearling filly by Zoustar, but no foal this spring after missing to Captivant.

Inkaruna is seventh stakes-winner this season for I Am Invincible, who has 40 entries for Magic Millions 2026.
