The winners keep coming this spring for Yes Yes Yes with a Kiwi trained three year-old primed for his G1 target race, a promising 2YO on the rise and a stylish winner at Rosehill on Saturday for the powerful Ciaron Maher stable.
Stakes-placed at two, four year-old mare Yes Lulu trained on at three to win several races and contested the 2025 $3million Magic Millions Guineas at the Gold Coast.
Working back to peak fitness at her third run back from a spell at Rosehill in the Benchmark 78 event over 1400m, the Ciaron Maher trained mare hit top form to cruise clear and win by more than a length for Tommy Berry.
A $260,000 Magic Millions purchase from Widden Stud for Ciaron Maher Bloodstock/Brut Racing, Yes Lulu has won three of 12 starts earning over $280,000 and will be well placed over summer with another possible return to the Gold Coast a likely target.
A stakes-winner at just his second race start in New Zealand, the Pam Gerard trained three year-old gelding Affirmative Action had his final outing last week before the Group I New Zealand 2000 Guineas.
He won the Show By SkyCity 1400 at Ellerslie on Melbourne Cup Day with George Rooke in the saddle to make it two wins from just three starts and is ready for his grand final.
“He didn’t do it easy today, so there’s still plenty of improvement,” Pam Gerard said after the win.
“He has done what he has had to do. It hasn’t been an easy road, it’s been nearly six weeks (since he last raced), so it was a good effort from the horse.”
Affirmative Action is now favourite for the G1 NZ 2000 Guineas at Riccarton this Saturday.
“I am pretty relieved really and I am now nervous for the next one (2000 Guineas),” she added.
“George (Rooke, jockey) is really confident and that makes me even more nervous.
“The way he jumps out and relaxes, that is a huge bonus. If he can jump out and relax, he can be anywhere, but I still think he is a better chaser and he will certainly be able to do that at Riccarton as long as he can handle the crowd and the atmosphere on the day.”
Also in New Zealand, Yes Yes produced a smart 2YO winner with Speed Demon saluting at Pukekohe at his second start for Cambridge-based trainer Nick Kneebone.
Speed Demon won by more than a length and is likely to be seen in stakes company at his next outing.
“My first thought is that he will come back here in two weeks for the Counties Challenge Stakes (Listed, 1100m),” Kneebone said.
“He just improved so much off that first-up run and he has put away quite a good field today.”
Yes Yes Yes has sired 23 winners since the start of this season with many more to come.
