Champion trainer Chris Waller has already tasted success with the Godolphin horses since the start of the new season and added a new stakes-winner in the famed blue silks at Flemington on Cup Day when three year-old colt Burma Star took out the Listed VRC Amanda Elliott Stakes (1400m).

Second at Rosehill at the start of the month, Exceed and Excel colt Burma Star was sent south for his first try at 1400m and hit the line hard for Joao Moreira to score a neck win in a thriller.
It was his second win from seven starts taking his overall earnings in excess of $200,000.
“I'm so, so happy to get on board with a winner. Things didn't really go smoothly throughout the race, I had a bit of a squeeze as we jumped out and found myself a little bit further back than we expected, but he showed his quality to find his way out and dash home like a proper winner,” said Joao Moreira.
“He is a very nice horse.”
Burma Star is the best of two winners from Group II placed Dawn Approach (IRE) mare Gongs, a daughter of stakes-winner Belcentra.
Burma Star has a two year-old full sister called Tibetan Bell that will also be going to Chris Waller .
Gongs has a yearling colt by Bivouac and has foaled this spring producing a filly by Anamoe.
Burma Star is the 222nd stakes-winner for retired champion sire Exceed and Excel.
