First Foal of Melody Belle a Winner!

Two time NZ Horse of the Year and a 14-time G1 winner, Melody Belle was a big ticket purchase for Yulong at the 2021 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale when  they paid $2.6million for the daughter of Commands and she produced her first winner for them at Cranbourne on Friday night.

Trained by Mark Walker and ridden by Mick Dee, Lyrics ‘n’ Song was favourite for the 1200m maiden after a good second on debut at Moonee Valley at the start of the month.

She cruised to the front at the furlong and then forged clear to win by more than two lengths in a pleasing performance.

A  three-year old filly by Written Tycoon, Lyrics ‘n’ Song is the first foal of Melody Belle, who was a superstar for Te Akau Racing winning 19 races from 900 to 2050m with earnings topping $3.8million.

Lyrics 'n' Song was passed in as a yearling.

Lyrics ‘n’ Song was passed in by Yulong at Inglis Easter shy of her $700,000 reserve and retained to race.

Melody Belle has a yearling filly by Diatonic (Jpn) and has foaled this spring producing a filly by I Am Invincible.
