Doubtland 2YO All On Red Smashes Them Again at Ascot

Kat Webster - Sunday October 26

Widden Stud's Doubtland has a potential 2YO topliner in Perth in the shape of exciting WA colt All On Red, who remains undefeated from two starts after another comprehensive Ascot Saturday win.

From a wide gate, All On Red shot straight to the lead on jumping, and the free running youngster was never in danger of defeat.

Leading from start to finish, All On Red under Luke Campbell  put his opposition to the sword in the final stages of the 1000m scamper, to win easily by two and a half lengths.

Backing up from a scorching first up win at the distance and going up in weight proved to hold no fears for the son of Doubtland, who defied a significant late betting drift but still went to post as the race favourite.

Punters had supported Texan Dream (Splintex), backing him to turn the tables on All On Red, after Luke Fernie's youngster proved to be his own worst enemy on debut.

But a literal avalanche of late money came for Neville Parnham's filly Supersmash (Splintex) having her first race start.

Chris Parnham and Texan Dream kept company outside All On Red all the way on the hot speed, and the gelding had every chance to make amends but it wasn't to be. Texan Dream faded in the run home when his rival switched the afterburners on.

$20 shot London Rose (another Splintex) was impressive on debut. The filly closed purposefully to finish second, albeit well beaten, with Tassort colt One Last Resort catching the eye with a good third after a wide run.

Luke Campbell was talking up All On Red before the colt even appeared at the races.

“ He has improved a little bit off his first up run maturity wise, he got out so quick today and just put himself there, and when he got there he relaxed so well” said the jockey on returning to scale.

“ I had Chris ( Parnham, on Texan Dream) outside of me but he left me alone.

I was mindful that he was giving 4kg away today to some of those horses, and we've got a bit of a headwind today - so he's done a good job.

I've had an opinion of him from the get go.”

The Tiarnna Noske trained All On Red advances his record to two starts for two wins and earnings of $131,680.

He is the eighth winner this season for his sire Doubtland, a beautifully bred son of sire of sires Not A Single Doubt.

All on Red was a $62,500 MM Perth yearling purchase.

The good looking All On Red was a $62,500 Perth Magic Millions purchase for Noske from the draft of famed WA nursery Scenic Lodge.

The colt was born and bred to burst out of the blocks at two, and he has certainly lived up to that pedigree promise!

His sire Doubtland had truly electrifying juvenile speed and was unbeaten at two, including a remarkable four length victory in the Kindergarten Stakes.

Out of the stakes placed Miss Sharapova (Ustinov) the colt trained on to win the “sire making” G2 Danehill Stakes at three, and is a three quarter brother to G2 winner Villa Verde (dam of current star filly My Gadiola) from the immediate family of Golden Slipper winners Rory’s Jester and Ha Ha.

All On Red is out of the very speedy city winning Snippetson mare Poker Face and he is her first foal.

Poker Face is a half sister to the memorable filly Karuta Queen (by Doubtland's sire Not A Single Doubt) the $2m Gold Coast MM 2YO Classic winner who at three placed second to Black Caviar in the G2 Schillaci Stakes, and was runner up to the great mare again in the G1 William Reid at four.

Their dam Card Queen (Final Card) won a G3 Blue Diamond Prelude and she also produced the fine fillies Eawase (Sebring) - a juvenile stakes winner - and stakes placed Bezique (Spirit Of Boom) and Sensical (Zoustar).

All On Red's third dam was a winning daughter of champion sprinter miler Vite Cheval.

Eye That Lady was a half sister to stakes winners Cheval Cavalier and Don't Cry (dam of Tears Royal).

Her unraced daughter Our Teneriffe is dam of G3 winner Vain Queen (Artie Schiller), G1 placed in the William Reid Stakes.

All On Red's dam Poker Face has a yearling colt by Aysar and she delivered another colt by Universal Ruler this spring.

All On Red is bred

Danzig 5m x 5m

Blue Hen Easy Date 4f x 4m sex balanced

Blue Hen Rory's Rocket 5m,5f x sex balanced

Doubtland's inbreeding to his own ancestress Rory's Rocket (by Relic grandson Buisson Ardent) is reinforced in this pedigree by Vite Cheval (also tail male Relic) so speed on speed!

This pedigree also features intensive linebreeding (the majority sex balanced) to Grey Sovereign, Lunchtime, Biscay, Star Kingdom, Wilkes, Never Say Die, Sir Gaylord, Menow and his son Tom Fool, Aureole, Alycidon and My Babu - as well as to the La Troienne family and numerous Blue Hens including Grey Flight and Mah Iran, the ancestress of Nassipour.

All On Red descends from a daughter of the 1925 Melbourne Cup winner Windbag, by the great sire Magpie - Magpie's is the wider family from which Doubtland / Rory's Rocket, Kenmare and Never Say Die descend.

Another legendary Melbourne Cup winner, the mighty mare Let's Elope occupies a very prominent position in All On Red's pedigree.

Interestingly, Let's Elope is appearing in the breeding of several top level sprinters, reminding us that the freak mare was a great speedster too - she won a G1 CF Orr Stakes.

Brilliant youngster All On Red has an exciting future ahead!
