First Winner for Charm Spirit

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday May 15
Windsor Park's promising shuttle sire Charm Spirit (IRE) is on the board with his first winner after two year-old filly Diviner bolted in at Wolverhampton in the UK overnight.

Charm SpiritUnplaced on debut when stepping out on heavy ground at Salisbury, the Mark Johnston trained filly appreciated a firmer surface for her second outing to dash clear and win the five furlong scamper by five lengths.

Diviner is owned by the Kingsley Park 8 syndicate and was purchased by her trainer for just €14,000 from the Castlebridge Consignment at the Goffs Orby Sale.

A half-sister to stakes-placed Ponfeigh, Diviner is the third winner from Water Fountain, a sibling to Group III winner Spring Oak and stakes-winner Fragrant Hill, the dam of Group I winners Fragrant Mix and Alpine Rose.

A triple Group I winning son of Invincible Spirit, Charm Spirit has made a positive impression at Australasian yearling sales this year with his first Southern Hemisphere bred yearlings.

Charm Spirit had 30 yearlings average $112,000 at Karaka Book 1 and also had four yearlings average $2616,250 at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast.

His yearlings sold for up to $400,000 with his top seller a filly from Lady Kipling sold by Windsor Park at Karaka and bought by Ciaron Maher / Waterford Bloodstock.

Charm Spirit stands at a fee of $18,000.
