Blue Gum Farm Find Positive in Debutant Result for Sejardan

Media Release - Thursday October 16

The victory by Torture in Wednesday's Listed Debutant Stakes at Caulfield kicked off the New Zealand based stallion Sword Of State's career in fine style and Blue Gum Farm have reason to be excited by the impressive performance.

The pedigrees of Sword Of State and Blue Gum's promising young horse - the very fast, very precocious Sejardan - bear many similarities and before too long the Euroa farm team will be cheering on early winners for their stallion who is currently serving his third book of mares.

Sejardan's pedigree screams early comer as he was himself - as was his Golden Slipper winning sire Sebring.

His dam sire Hinchinbrook is a 3/4 brother to Snitzel, sire of Sword of State.

Sejardan's second dam sire Encosta de Lago is the dam sire of Sword Of State.

Sword Of State is line-bred to Danehill including a female (his second dam sire) strain of Danzero - Sejardan's Golden Slipper winning third dam sire.

Sword Of State also has Danehill's close relation Halo - Sebring's great grandsire - as well as the great local influence for juvenile speed in Kaoru Star of whom Sejardan boast a 5 X 6 cross.

The next three home in the Debutant also have plenty in common with Sejardan with the runner-up Free Flying being by Snitzel out of a Fastnet Rock (sire of Hinchinbrook) mare with  his third dam sire Centaine hailing from Sejardan's family.

The dam of the third placed Tornado Valley is bred on the same Fastnet Rock/Encosta de Lago cross as Sejardan whilst the fourth home Commit, game off a wide run is another member of Sejardan's family.

There's speed in the Sejardan genes, providing a great opportunity for Victorian breeders.
