Gelding the Making of $3.6million Earner Lindermann

Tara Madgwick - Saturday October 11

Gelded after losing form following his tenacious victory in the 2023 Group I ATC Rosehill Guineas, the Chris Waller trained Lindemann has embraced life as a gelding and landed the most lucrative win of his career at Rosehill on Saturday when taking out the $2million Group II ATC Hill Stakes (1900m).

The five year-old son of Lonhro is racing in career best form with a win over Cox Plate and Melbourne Cup favourite Sir Delius (GB) in the Group II ATC Chelmsford Stakes last month and a last start head second to his stablemare Fangirl in the $1million ATC Channel Seven Stakes.

Punters rallied to Lindermann with Nash Rawiller to ride and he duly turned the race into a procession at the finish, opening up to win by more than two lengths over Attrition, who won this race last year.

A homebred for the Debbie Kepitis’s Woppitt Bloodstock that was foaled and raised at Coolmore, Lindermann has the overall record of seven wins and 10 placings from 34 starts with prizemoney of $3.6million.

Nash Rawiller has been a regular partner for Lindermann and has plenty of praise for him.

"His biggest asset is not just his heart but also his attitude," Rawiller said.

"He never gives up. He probably knew he was more in front than I did, to be honest, because I wasn't sure, but he's just a horse that keeps coming through for you."

Lindermann is the best of four winners from four foals to race from stakes-placed Stratum mare Self Esteem, who comes from the family of Group I stars Assertive Lad, Assertive Las and Reset.

Self Esteem has a yearling filly by Pierro that is a three-quarter sister to Lindermann and has no foal this spring after missing last year.
