Sepoy Filly Impresses

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday August 9
For the second Wednesday in a row Godolphin have unleashed a talented daughter of Sepoy with Alizee successful last week and unbeaten Regimen scoring at Canterbury today.

Trained by James Cummings, Regimen was an easy winner on debut at Gosford last month and was sent out a hot favourite for the Benchmark 71 fillies event over 1100 metres.

SepoyShe led all the way and kicked clear to win by two and a half lengths in a dominant display.

"She's a high maintenance filly, but has a lot of ability," revealed Godolphin spokesman Darren Beadman.

"She can be a bit high spirited and we treat her with kid gloves, so her success is a credit to the whole team.

"She's one of a number of nice Sepoy's we have that are getting ready for spring."

Regimen is the fourth winner from four foals to race from Anabaa (USA) mare Disciplined, who was also quite a hot filly, but was still able to win five of 12 starts, albeit falling short of stakes class.

Sepoy has yet to sire an Australian stakes-winner, although does have five stakes-winners in the Northern Hemisphere, four of them fillies, so maybe Regimen or Alizee will step up to the mark in coming weeks to right that anomaly.

Sepoy stands at Darley this spring at a fee of $16,500.
