Sejardan Fits 2YO Speed Profile

Media Release - Wednesday October 8

There were three feature juvenile contests held at Flemington and Randwick last weekend and as usually is the case with such races, they were won by horses whose pedigrees suggested that good early form was on the cards.

And each of those three - the Listed Maribyrnong Trial Stakes winner Eurocanto, the Gr.3 Breeders Plate winner Incognito and the Gr.3 Gimcrack Stakes winner Shiki - share pedigree traits in common with Blue Gum Farm's flyer Sejardan.

He too won the Breeders Plate - a test of early maturing speed and one which has been won by a number of successful stallions such as Choisir, Snitzel, Charge Forward, Pierro, Capitalist and Sejardan's high achieving sire Sebring.

One of the best two-year-olds of his year, Sejardan is bred on a Halo/Snippets cross - the very same cross as the Gr.1 Blue Diamond Stakes bound Eurocanto whose dam is by Zabeel; a horse with a strain of Nureyev whose 3/4 brother Fairy King is the grandsire of Sejardan's grandam.

The $1 million colt Incognito, who may head to the Magic Millions, is a member of the Danehill sire line via Not A Single Doubt and that horse hails from the family of Snippets.

Sejardan meanwhile is line-bred to Danehill with his dam sire Hinchinbrook being out of a mare by Snippets.

Incognito also has Nureyev - that link to Fairy King again.

Heading for a break with the Golden Slipper in mind, Shiki also has Danehill - as well as Sadler's Wells, a full brother to Fairy King. And her second dam sire is Rory's Jester whose grandsire Baguette hails from the same speed family as Sebring.
