Pedigree Watch – Juvenile Stakes-Winners

Tara Madgwick - Sunday October 5

Three new season juvenile stakes races on Saturday produced a $1million yearling purchase that gave Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside the perfect start to his stud career, a pinhook winner turned stakes-winner and a colt foaled in Australia with a Kiwi pedigree.

The Group III ATC Breeders Plate (1000m) was won by Stay Inside colt Incognito, read about him here.

He was the highest priced yearling by his Newgate based sire and now his first stakes-winner and is the tenth stakes-winner as a broodmare sire for I Am Invincible, whose champion son Home Affairs had the runner-up in the race I’m Ya Huckleberry.

Another of his sire sons Hellbent had the third place-getter in the race Revengeance, so I Am Invincible certainly had his stamp on the race and is currently sitting at the top of the Australian General Sires List by earnings.

She is the 28th stakes-winner for Too Darn Hot (GB), who is back in Australia for Darley at a fee of $275,000 and featured overnight in the UK where his top class four year-old mare Fallen Angel won her third G1 this year in a row when taking out the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket (1m).

Now owned by Wathnan Racing, Fallen Angel was a G1 winner at two and three, so is now a five time G1 winner making her the best Northern Hemisphere bred performer so far for her sire.

Shiki is very much bred for speed and is the third SW for Too Darn Hot from a daughter of champion sire Exceed and Excel. The nick has produced eight winners from 12 starters and the other two SWs are G3 winners Tropicus and Fitzella.

Eurocanto is the 34th stakes-winner for Little Avondale Stud’s stalwart Per Incanto and comes from a female family with Waikato Stud written all over it. He is the first winner from Savabeel mare Shespending, a full sister to juvenile SW Tilianam from a very fast female family featuring iconic Waikato Stud sires Pins and O’Reilly.

He is the 39th SW for Savabeel as a broodmare sire and is the fifth SW bred on the Per Incanto x Savabeel nick which has produced 15 winners from 22 starters and runs at 22% SW to runner with G1 winner Gringotts the star performer.
