Swettenham Stud Delighted with Lofty Strike Foals

Swettenham Stud are delighted with the growing buzz of excitement surrounding the first foals for young gun sire Lofty Strike.

By champion sire Snitzel from Golden Slipper winner Overreach, Lofty Strike has the glamour pedigree, G1 ability and charisma to match and made a great impression on breeders last spring covering 115 mares at a fee of $22,000.

Lofty Strike is an eye-catching stallion and priced this spring at $22,000.

Paul Lofitis of The Lofty Group enjoyed the success of Lofty Strike on the track in a career that produced three brilliant wins and two second placings in the Group I VRC Newmarket Handicap and MRC Oakleigh Plate.

Now a major shareholder in his stud career, Lofitis and Adam Sangster have supported the young stallion with some of their best mares and he is consistently stamping his foals with his trademark flashy looks, size, strength and athleticism.

They are all you can ask of a young sire’s first foals and the pictures below tell the story.

EAU CLAIRE filly, bred by Paul Lofitis of the Lofty Group

A super first foal with plenty of athleticism – she is very much in the mould of her sire with his flashy looks to match. Eau Claire is by Champion Frankel, out of SW Street Cry mare Quayside, who produced G3 placed Dream Side by fellow Snitzel son Trapeze Artist. Her 2nd dam is G2 winner Quays, while her 3rd dam is G1 winner Pontal Lass. Paul supported Lofty Strike with some super mares, so it’s very pleasing to see him get some nice foals on the ground on the back of his commitment to the stallion.

CRIMSON TEARS (Jpn) colt, bred by Gerry Ryan

A chestnut version of the old man, the Crimson Tears colt is a beauty – superb muscle definition for a young foal.  He is a ½ brother to Puissance de Lune’s G2 placegetter Somewhere, out of a Japanese bred Heart’s Cry mare. Lofty Strike seems to be throwing nice foals with a range of different bloodlines – he has nice foals from Australian, European and Japanese mares.

THE AMAZING TAHLIA filly, bred by Adam Sangster and partners.

The filly out of The Amazing Tahlia is exactly what we hoped for when buying the mare specifically for Lofty Strike. She has good bone and a very strong hindquarter. The stallion has done a great job stamping her. Is it too early to nominate for the 2028 Blue Diamond? Her precocious pedigree matches her looks – Out of a speedy Equiano mare, who is a ½ to G3 Blue Diamond Preview winner De Sonic Boom and SW Laverrod.
