The Goffs Orby Yearling Sale kicked off overnight and the top lot on Day 1 was a colt by Blue Point purchased by John Stewart’s Resolute Bloodstock for €675,000, while Wootton Bassett produced the top selling filly, whose half-brother Trinity College is now in Australia.
A half-brother to Group II winner Bay City roller consigned by Church View Stables on behalf of John Connaughton, the colt is the fifth foal from stakes-winning Teofilo mare Bloomfield.
The late Wootton Bassett sired the top priced filly with David Redvers bidding €625,000 to secure the half-sister to this season’s Group winning 3YO Trinity College, who has been purchased by Yulong and is now in Australia with Chris Waller to train.
Consigned by Baroda Stud, the filly is the third foal of dual Group I winning Galileo mare Hermosa and is a sister in blood to this season’s Group I winning 3YO filly Whirl and Group II winning 2YO colt Hawk Mountain, who are both by Wootton Bassett from full sisters to Hermosa.
