One to Watch – Kembla

Tara Madgwick - Thursday September 18

A half-brother to Group I winning sprinter and $2.1million earner Benedetta, King’s Legacy colt Whatalegacy made it two wins in as many starts when he scorched the turf at Kembla on Thursday.

Trained by Bjorn Baker and ridden by Dylan Gibbons, Whatalegacy won on debut at Wyong last month and kept up the good work with another brilliant performance.

Stepped up to Benchmark 64 company, Whatalegacy led and controlled the race before powering clear to win by nearly three lengths covering the 1000m in a slick 56.58 seconds.

Whatalegacy has banked over $50,000 from his first two wins and will no doubt be looking for better target races as his preparation unfolds.

A $160,000 Inglis Premier purchase for  from the Mill Park draft, Whatalegacy was bred by South Australian breeders Brenton and Liz Parker, who have retained small interest in the colt, who runs for a big group of stable clients.

He is a half-brother to Group I winner Benedetta and also Group II placed Whatafox being the fourth winner from five foals to race from Group II placed Domesday mare Whatalovelyday.

Whatalovelyday produced a full brother to Benedetta last year and has foaled this spring producing a colt by Zoustar.
