Doomben Cup Contender for Domesday

Tara Madgwick - Sunday May 6
Set to make a big impact on the Brisbane Winter Carnival is Aquis based Domesday whose high class daughter Oregon's Day beat the boys at weight-for-age at the Gold Coast on Saturday when taking out the Group II AD Hollindale Cup.

Oregon's Day - Trackside PhotographySecond in the Group I ATC Coolmore Classic and fourth in the Group I ATC Coolmore Legacy, the Mick Price trained four year-old was trying 1800 metres for the first time and relished the task.

She powered to the line to win by a length and a half over perennial Group I bridesmaid Tom Melbourne (IRE).

"Mick thought he had plenty of horse to work with after Sydney when she ran fourth in the Queen of The Turf," said stable representative Pat Kearney.

"The Doomben Cup will give her a chance to win a Group I race."

Oregon's Dream was retained to race by her breeders, who also raced her dam Oregon Seal, a Group III winner up to 2100 metres.

DomesdayRetired from stud duties, Oregon Seal has produced eight winners from eight foals to race with Oregon's Day her third stakes-winner joining Group II winner Talent Show and stakes-winner Oregon Spirit.

Oregon's Day has the overall record of four wins and seven placings from just 19 starts and has won over $788,000 in prizemoney.

Oregon's Day is one of 16 stakes-winners for Domesday and is his third this season joining Group I winner Daysee Doom and star three year-old Royal Symphony, who was sidelined after the spring.

Domesday was super popular for Aquis in Queensland last year covering 141 mares and is priced this year at $9,900.
