Spring Trial Watch – Caulfield

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday September 2

With a plethora of Group racing for colts and geldings last weekend and fillies to take centre stage Sydney on Saturday for the Group II ATC Furious Stakes it was interesting to see a Caulfield trial on Tuesday morning that featured six stakes-winning 3YO’s.

I Am Invincible fillies My Gladiola and Blue Hotel both went around in the Group III MRC Quezette Stakes  at the start of the month with the former running second and the latter unplaced and they ran one/two in this 800m heat.

Third was Ole Kirk gelding Legacy Bound, who has had two starts for two impressive wins the most recent in the Group III SAJC Breeders Stakes, a race won last year by Growing Empire, who returned in the spring as a star.

Other stakes-winners in the field were Bellazaine, Palm Angel and Inkaruna, while the maiden winner Censori finished off well and has designs on longer distance spring races being by Russian Camelot (IRE), while Hey Jessie has done nothing wrong with a second and a win at her only starts.

Was there a future G1 winner in this field?
