Lever was taken to Newcastle's John Hunter Hospital after he suffered concussion and a cut to his head when he fell in a race on Monday while Pitomac came off when his mount bucked at the start of a barrier trial after the last race.

Racing NSW doctor David Duckworth says Lever has concussion and a small bleed on his brain that just needs observation.

He also has a deep cut on his forehead that needs stitching, a painful jaw and thumb.

Pitomac was taken to Scone Hospital and should know the results of scans on his back on Wednesday.
