So You Think Summer Star a Spring Contender

Tara Madgwick - Saturday August 30

So You Think gelding Revelare was the find of the summer down in Melbourne racking up five successive wins between December and the start of March with the untapped 5YO putting up his hand as a spring contender when saluting at Caulfield on Saturday.

Trained by Robert Hickmott and ridden by Declan Bates with regular Ryan Hurdle sidelined through illness, Revelare was given a decent task taking on the open handicap over 2000m against a quality field of stayers.

The race unfolded perfectly for him and Revelare scored by half a length over Group I winner Smokin’ Romans as favourite.

“If you could have scripted the race to be run that suited, that was it. We said be three-wide with cover then get into that three-and-a-half-wide line so they have to come four and wide around you. It just panned out perfectly,” said Robert Hickmott.

"There's plenty of improvement in him, he's going to have a good blow after that, so hopefully onto bigger and better things.”

Revelare was a $130,000 Inglis Premier purchase

Revelare was a $130,000 Inglis Premier purchase for his trainer from the Daisy Hill draft and has already banked nearly $360,000 in prizemoney with seven wins and a second from 10 starts.

Black Type races now loom on the horizon with connections dreaming of the Cups with several options going forward.

"I haven't talked the ownership group. Obviously, the Foundation Cup in three weeks' time is on the agenda. It's been in the back of my mind, and a couple of the owners, that The Archer is probably going to be the weaker of that and The Bart Cummings so it gives you that mile-and-a-half run going into the Cummings if you do happen to miss out there in Flemington and you have two cracks in it,” Hickmott said.

"We'll just see how he pulls up and where we go from here, but very happy with today."

Revelare is certainly bred for long distances being the best of three winners from Reveal the Goddess, a 2400m winning Zabeel mare that is a sister to stakes-placed Sheezababe from Group I AJC Sydney Cup winner Honor Babe.

So You Think is amazingly good valeu at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $44,000.
