Last to First – He’s Seriously Hot!

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday August 27

Sent to the paddock after just one placing from five starts at two that included three attempts in stakes company, Siriusly Hot returned a gelding at Randwick and it certainly made a difference!

By top class sire Too Darn Hot (GB), the Ciaron Maher trained three year-old chased home the likes of gun colts Nepotism and Vinrock during the autumn and a drop back to maiden class always looked an appealing option.

Tuned up with a couple of recent trials, Siriusly Hot was given a patient ride by Chad Schofield from an outside gate and settled last in the 1250m maiden.

He weaved a path between runners and produced a dazzling turn of foot to charge home and win by three-quarters of a length going away.

“It was a 10 out of 10 ride from Chad, very cool and executed perfectly,” said stable representative Amy Burke.

“We expected him to run well. His first two trials, obviously, this time around have been sharp and he's come back a lot sharper.

“He had the ultimate gear change since last preparation, and it's really. switched him on and we've got a racehorse now!”

Chad Schofield was well pleased with Siriusly Hot.

“He really impressed me. I spoke to Ciaron this morning, and he told me the horse had improved and got sharper this preparation since being gelded,” said Schofield.

“We planned to run quietly from our bad draw, but I had to sort of relinquish a couple of lengths just to get cover, but he travelled well and showed a very, very good turn of foot.

“He took two very small gaps, burst through them and was far too good.”

Siriously Hot was a $120,000 Inglis Premier purchase.

A $120,000 Inglis Premier purchase from Yabby Dam Farms for his trainer, Siriusly Hot runs for an ownership group that includes his breeders. He is the first foal of Etoile Brillante, a winning half-sister by Zoustar to the dam of Group I winner Tuvalu.

The pedigree goes back a to a European family that has had a lot of success in Australia thanks to Darley blue hen Accessories (GB), the dam of Group I winners Epaulette and Helmet, plus Group winners Pericles, Pearls and Bullbars, the sire of Mr Brightside.

Yabby Dam Farms sold a colt by Tuvalu’s sire Kermadec at Inglis Premier this year for $140,000 to Wilde Racing Ply Ltd / Sheamus Mills Bloodstock and she has a filly to follow by Brazen Beau with a foal expected this spring by Maurice (Jpn).

Too Darn Hot is back at Darley NSW this spring set to cover a full book at a fee of $275,000.
