Feature Race Entries Running Today

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday August 20

The spring carnival is rapidly approaching and midweek metro meetings provide a fertile ground for new talent to emerge so let’s take a look at the runners at Warwick Farm and Sandown today that hold feature race entries.

With a heavy 10 expected at Warwick Farm expect plenty of scratchings, but one to keep an eye on if she does race is Frankel filly Magenta Skies in the Fairway Thoroughbreds colours.

This Michael Freedman trained filly has had a good grounding at the trials and won her most recent one on a heavy track.

A homebred for Fairway Thoroughbreds, Magenta Skies is a half-sister to stakes-winner Millane from Group II winning Snitzel mare Fireworks, who visited Frankel for three years in a row.

She has a two year-old filly to follow called Beachside and a yearling colt, so there will be a high degree of expectation for Magenta Skies.

Frankel has another entry in the 1300m maiden with the Chris Waller trained Enviable looking to improve on her first up third at the same venue three weeks ago.
