Introducing ‘Mili the Filly’ – First for Militarize

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday August 19

The foaling season brings so many interesting stories and when an email lobbed today from Matt Stevens of Edgar Park in Victoria announcing the arrival of a rare filly by Militarize it was always going to warrant a story.

Militarize had had his share of ups and downs, what will the new racing season bring?

Gelded and returned to work in the Chris Waller stable after an unsuccessful start to his stud career at Newgate Farm last spring, Militarize had all the right credentials for stud success.

Winner of the Group I ATC Sires Produce Stakes and Champagne Stakes at two followed by the Group I ATC Golden Rose at three, Militarize looked set to emulate the success of other sire sons of Dundeel such as Super Seth and Castelvecchio.

Fully booked at a fee of $38,500, Militarize ended up covering just 59 mares before fertility issues quickly curtailed his brief stud career and one breeder that got lucky with a mare in foal to the $2.6million earner was Matt Stevens.

Born on Saturday morning, this Militarize filly from Anyana (GB).

Born on Saturday morning is this striking bay Militarize filly from unraced Nathaniel mare Anyana (GB), a half-sister to stakes-winner Amare and closely related to Champion German Older Mare Amorella. She has had a great start to her stud career with three foals to race and all are winners.

Nicknamed ‘Mili the Filly’, she is reported to be a beautiful, big correct foal!

Footnote: Militarize had his first trial back for a new spring campaign at Randwick this morning closing off nicely for third behind Angel Capital.
