Widden Victoria Open the Gates

It was a chilly morning at Widden Victoria last Friday but the stallion talent was hot with Southport Tycoon making his debut in the very same parade ring in which his sire Written Tycoon started his stud career back in 2007.

Now aged 23 and in the very twilight of his stud career, Written Tycoon is a stallion Widden have taken a considerable investment in standing his Group I winning son Written By in NSW and his Group II winning son Dirty Work in Victoria.

Making it a trio of Written Tycoon sons is dual Group I winner Southport Tycoon, who won the VRC Australian Guineas (1600m) at three and the MVRC Manikato Stakes (1200m) at four.

Southport Tycoon has a striking resemblance to his sire that was not lost on broodmare owners and is set to cover a full book at a fee of $38,500.
