First Win for Hampton Court Sibling

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday August 8
A $900,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Shadwell Australia from the Milburn Creek draft, good looking Snitzel colt Mutamayel made a winning debut on the synthetic surface at Pakenham on Tuesday.

Easy in the market, the handsome chestnut from the Hayes / Dabernig stable was given a good ride by Regan Bayliss and was quickly into stride from the jump.

Mutamayel as a yearlingHe was content to settle third and track the early leaders before surging past them in the straight.

Mutamayel found the line strongly and held on to win the 1400 metre maiden by three-quarters of a length in an encouraging debut.

Bred and offered for sale by John Muir's Milburn Creek, he is a three-quarter brother to Group I ATC Spring Champion Stakes winner Hampton Court, who stands at Spendthrift Australia in Victoria.

Mutamayel is the fourth winner from four foals to race Canadian US stakes-winner Roses 'n' Wine (Can), who comes from the family of Australian Horse of the Year Makybe Diva.

Roses 'n' Wine has a two year-old filly by Fastnet Rock, a yearling filly by Not a Single Doubt and was covered again by the same sire last spring.
