Extremely Good Week!

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday August 6

It’s been a memorable week for Star Thoroughbreds having sold their multiple Group winning mare Olentia for $2.6million and then the purple and white stars were back in the winner’s circle at Canterbury on Wednesday carried by 3YO Extreme Choice colt Estremo.

Trained by Chris Waller, as was Olentia, Estremo improved off his good debut third to stablemate Skyglider at Canterbury two weeks ago to win the Benchmark 64 1100m event by the best part of a length.

Estremo settled back in the field and when angled wide into clear running, he let down with a great burst for Tommy Berry to score a stylish victory.

Estremo was a $230,000 Inglis Easter purchase from Newgate Farm for Star Thoroughbreds / Randwick Bloodstock Agency and is the fifth winner from five foals to race from Tree of Jesse, a metro winning half-sister by Street Cry (IRE) to stakes-winner Related.

Also in the family is Group II winner No Evidence Needed, the dam of Kiwi trained Group I winning juvenile Move to Strike.

Estremo was a $230,000 Inglis Easter purchase.

Newgate sold a full sister to Estremo at Inglis Premier this year for $200,000 to McEvoy Mitchell Racing / Belmont Bloodstock.

Estremo was the first leg of a winning metro double of Wednesday for Extreme Choice, who also sired Make a Call to win at Doomben.

A share in Extreme Choice was sold in the Magic Millions Virtual Sale on Tuesday for $500,000 to Sheamus Mills Bloodstock and he stands this year at an advertised fee of $330,000 at Newgate.
