First foal Arrives for Mo’Unga

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday August 5

The Kelly family of Newhaven Park have taken an educated gamble on champion New Zealand sire Savabeel and have already struck paydirt with exciting young sire Cool Aza Beel siring Group I winning 2YO Cool Archie and now it’s time for Mo’Unga to make his mark.

A debut 2YO winner that matured to become a dual Group I winner at 1400 and 2000m, MoUnga was also 10 times G1 placed and retired with earnings of $3.8million.

Carrying the best of Waikato Stud bloodlines with his first two dams by O’Reilly and Centaine, Mo’Unga covered nearly 90 mares last spring in his first season.

A half-sister to stakes-winner Tudor, Emphatically has had two winners from three foals to race.

Mo’Unga is priced this spring at $25,000 and stands alongside Cool Aza Beel at $16,500, so if you are a fan of Savabeel, who has just turned 24, Newhaven Park is going to be right on your radar as they stand his only two sons at stud in Australia.
