Larneuk Stud’s value Lonhro sire Impending only just missed a century of winners last season and was quick to keep the momentum going with a promising debut winner at Cranbourne on Friday in the Laurel Oak Bloodstock colours.
Trained by Tony Noonan and ridden by his son Jake, Brilliant Horizon is a big strong chestnut throwing markedly in type to her dam sire Written Tycoon.
She went forward from the gates to stalk the leader throughout and kicked away at the finish to win the 1200m maiden by a length and a half after doing plenty of work in the run.
Brilliant Horizon was bred by Laurel Oak Bloodstock in partnership with Glenn Fraser and they remain in the ownership along with a big group of stable clients.
Foaled and raised at Goodwood Farm, she is a half-sister to Group III placed Shadows of Love and Dazzling Lucy being the fifth winner from five foals to race from good producer Sky Dazzle.
Jake Noonan had plenty of praise for Brilliant Horizon after her win.
Sky Dazzle has a two year-old filly by Rebel Dane and is due to foal to Tassort.
A dual Group I winner by Lonhro, Impending stands at a fee of $6,600.
