Passionate owner/ breeder Julia Ritchie is one of the key shareholders in Everest winner Yes Yes Yes, who recently relocated to Gooree Park Stud, and a filly she bred and sold called Mrs Goldberg collected a $100,000 Inglis Xtra bonus on Friday at Coffs Harbour.
Trained by Matt Dunn and ridden by exciting apprentice Jett Newman, Mrs Goldberg looked to face a tough task on debut with a wide gate in the $50,000 showcase maiden over 1000m against 13 other starters.
Given a good ride by Newman, Mrs Goldberg had to do it tough sitting wide but was strong all the way to the line winning by three-quarters of a length over the race favourite Jasira to the great delight of connections.
Mrs Goldberg was a $30,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the Widden Stud draft for Matthew Dunn / Neil Jenkinson (FBAA) / Viva Racing and has a large group of owners that were happy to enjoy a big pay day after collecting the $100,000 Inglis Xtra bonus.
Bred by Julia Ritchie’s Bangaloe Stud Syndicate, Mrs Goldberg is the second foal and first winner from metro winning High Chaparral (IRE) mare Making Whoopee, who comes from the family of triple Group I winning Hong Kong sprinter Mr Stunning.
Mrs Goldberg is the first winner of the new season for Yes Yes Yes, who sired 43 winners of over $3.3million last season to be the fifth leading second crop sire by winners.
Yes Yes Yes stands at Gooree Park Stud this spring at a fee of $16,500.
