Consecutive Wins For Lucky Vega’s I’m Lucky Two

Dane Squance - Monday July 28

Off the back of an impressive two length victory over 1000m at Toowoomba at the end of June, the month between runs didn’t pose any issues as the Michael Nolan trained Lucky Vega (IRE) gelding I’m Lucky Two stepped out over 870m to win once again.

Straight to the lead under jockey Chelsea Baker from the inside barrier, I’m Lucky Too maintained the rail position throughout.

Skipping clear after rounding the home turn, Baker kept the gelding going all the way to the line to score by a length and a half margin from Invader filly Tinkerbella.

One of five winners in Australia, plus one in New Zealand from the first crop of Yulong’s Group 1-winning son of Lope de Vega, the Mr JK Hurley bred and raced I’m Lucky Two is the only runner to date out of the two-time-winning Shocking mare Sapiero (NZ).

From the extend family of Group 1 Golden Slipper winner Polar Success, Sapiero’s second foal is a filly by Alabama Express, with no further mare returns placed with the Australian Stud Book.

Yulong's Lucky Vega (IRE) Will Stand For $38,500 In The Spring

Set to stand for a fee of $38,500 (inc. GST) in the spring, Lucky Vega’s first crop runners are headed by the Group 2-winning, Group 1 Champagne Stakes winner up Within The Law, who looks to be an ideal Princess Series candidate at 3 for the Bjorn Baker stable.
