Tara Madgwick - Friday July 25

The highest priced yearling for first season sire North Pacific, promising two year-old filly Angel Ladder opened her account with a tenacious win at Geelong on Friday.

Trained by Ciaron Maher and ridden by Declan Bates, Angel Ladder was having her third race start and appreciated a drop back to maiden class after taking on tough company in her first two outings.

She looked beaten with 100m to run, but was game as a tiger and just kept sticking her nose out to score a half head win over the favourite Odessa, whose previous two runs were both in stakes races.

Angel Ladder was a $420,000 Inglis Classic purchase from Glenlogan Park for R Unicorn Stable / Rising Sun Syndicate / Satomi Oka Bloodstock.

Angel Ladder was bred by Glenlogan Park and is a half-sister to Group III winner The Novelist (Written By) and stakes-winner Fully Lit (Hellbent) being the third winner from three foals to race from Sunlit, a winning half-sister by Snitzel to Group II winner Vo Heart.

A $420,000 Inglis Classic purchase, Angel Ladder is the highest priced yearling for her sire North Pacific.

Sunlit has been given a big upgrade in covering stallion given her efforts so far and produced a colt last spring by Zoustar and was then covered by I Am Invincible.

Angel Ladder is the third winner for Brazen Beau’s good looking Group winning son North Pacific, who stands at Newgate this spring at a fee of $11,000.
