New Stallion for Little Avondale Stud

Media Release - Wednesday April 25

The Southern Hemisphere breeding rights to the European Group Two winner and Group One-placed Time Test (GB) have been secured by Little Avondale Stud.

Time TestThe well-credentialed son of Dubawi will shuttle to the Wairarapa farm in 2018 and will stand at $10,000 + GST.

"We are extremely proud and excited to be standing Time Test here at Little Avondale," principal Sam Williams said.

"It has been over four decades since we stood the English-bred Oncidium, who won the Gr.1 Coronation Cup and went on to become New Zealand's champion sire.

"Time Test has a wonderful pedigree by a champion sire and from a very strong female line. He is an impressive, athletic individual with a very kind eye, however, it was his performance on the track that really caught my attention.

"He had a unique toughness and a super turn of foot. It is these credentials that Time Test brings with him that will appeal to New Zealand breeders."

Time Test, who is out of the Group One-winning Dansili mare Passage Of Time, was a winner at two who the following season won the Gr.2 Joel Stakes (1600m) and the Gr.3 Tercentenary Stakes (2000m) at Royal Ascot in track record time.

"Time Test blew away the opposition at Royal Ascot as a three-year-old when he looked like a real Group One horse. Speed and acceleration were his main assets," trainer Roger Charlton said.

As a four-year-old, he claimed the Gr.2 York Stakes (2100m), the Gr.3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes (2000m) and placed in the Gr.1 Eclipse Stakes (2000m) for trainer Roger Charlton.

Time Test ventured to the United States as a five-year-old and finished runner-up at Group One level in the Fourstardave Handicap (1600m) and the Manhattan Stakes (2000m).

He was subsequently purchased at the end of his racing career from Prince Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte Farms by the Jockey Club in England to stand at The National Stud.

"We are hugely excited to be teaming up with New Zealand's longest established stallion stud to offer Time Test to breeders there," stud chairman Guy Roxburghe said.

"His first season at stud here in England has been a great success and we really couldn't have wished for a stronger list of breeding right supporters, all of whom have sent him some really wonderful mares." – NZ Racing Desk.
