Juvenile Trial Watch – Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday July 8

There were only three heats won by juveniles at the Warwick Farm trials on Tuesday morning, but they included a couple of youngsters by first season sires Fierce Impact (Jpn) and Peltzer, who sired his first stakes-winner last Saturday in Buccleuch.

Unraced Peltzer gelding Don’t What Me has been given a good grounding at the trials by Jason Coyle and this was his fourth trial and best so far after a fourth last time out behind subsequent debut winner today Zocketman.

He showed pace to share the lead out wide and kicked on to the line for Dylan Gibbons to win by a length.

Retained to race by his breeder, Don’t What Me is a half-brother to a couple of stakes horses Let’s Twist and My Brothers Keeper as well as three other winners and is from good producer Any Dane Now, a half-sister by Danehill (IRE) to five time Group I winner Boban from Group I ATC Australian Oaks winner Kenbelle.

Matt Smith trained Japanese import Fierce Impact (Jpn) to win a treble of G1 races in Australia and he also puts the polish on his promising colt Fierceness, who won his heat today by a neck. It was his second trial this prep following an initial campaign that produced a fourth placed debut at Canterbury on January 31 behind smart filly Karinska, who incidentally also went around in this trial and was given a very quiet time to finish back in the pack.

Karinska ran some good races in Group company for fillies after her maiden win and will be worth keeping an eye on when she returns.

Fierceness was also retained to race and is from good metro winning Krupt mare Rebel Miss.

Additional winner was Cosmolicious (Cosmic Force).
