First past the post at Wyong on June 24, talented Anders filly Sapling lost that race on protest, but quickly made amends when returning to the same track on Saturday to score her first actual victory.
Trained by Sara Ryan and ridden by Robbie Downey, Sapling left no doubt this time around when starting favourite for the 1350m juvenile maiden and winning as she pleased.
She led for home and was strong all the way to the line winning by nearly two lengths to score her first win at her fifth start.
Sapling was a $130,000 Magic Millions purchase from Sledmere Stud for Domeland and was a successful pinhook having been sourced from the Raheen Stud draft at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale for $28,000.
Sapling is the fifth winner from seven to race from Sop, a placed half-sister by dodge to stakes-winner Con’s Amy.
Sapling is the sixth winner for Anders, who stands at Widden NSW this spring at a fee of $13,200.
