Invincible 2YO Colt wins for Bennett Racing

Tara Madgwick - Saturday July 5

The $150,000 VRC Next Gen Sprinters Series Final (1200m) for two year-olds at Flemington on Saturday drew a competitive field of progressive juveniles and the colt that stood out on type in the yard was the one that got the cash with I Am Invincible colt Jimmy Recard proving too good for race favourite Bacash.

Jimmy Recard was sent around on debut in the Listed MRC Debutant Stakes last spring finishing out of the money and emerging with a stress fracture, but the ability he showed back then has now come to fruition.

Trained by Ciaron Maher and ridden by Jamie Melham, Jimmy Recard broke his maiden at Gosford when returning last month and was then sent south for this assignment. He found the back of Bacash and followed him throughout and when asked to challenge he got the better of that colt to win by a long neck.

“He made my job very easy today, he didn't feel like a two year-old having it’s third start, he feels like he's been around 20 times before,” said Jamie Melham.

“I was happy to take a little bit of a sit and he was actually quite sharp today. He’s a nice horse.”

Jimmy Recard was a $350,000 Magic Millions purchase from Yarraman Park for Bennett Racing Pty Ltd/Ciaron Maher Bloodstock and runs in the Bennett Racing colours with his overall record now two wins from three starts with prizemoney topping $113,000.

Bred by Gall Bloodstock, he is the second winner from Group III placed Alamosa mare Aquamosa (NZ), who comes from an international Black Type family.

Bennett Racing also purchased the yearling full sister to Jimmy Recard at Magic Millions this year for $290,000.

Aquamosa has a filly to follow by Hellbent and is back in foal to him again.

Jimmy Recard is one of 13 2YO winner this season for Yarraman Park’s champion sire I Am Invincible and five of them are stakes-winners headed by Group I winning colt Vinrock.
