One to Watch – Scone

Tara Madgwick - Monday June 23

Kris Lees often sends a talented horse to the country to cast off maiden status and a two year-old Exceedance gelding did just that on debut at Scone on Monday.

Herman Said was ridden by Dylan Gibbons and was sent off a short priced favourite for the 900m maiden after winning a trial at Newcastle last month.

He ran up to expectation, forging clear of his rivals to run right through the lien and winby more than two lengths.

A $68,000 Inglis Weanling Sale purchase for World Wide Bloodstock from Vinery Stud, Herman Said is the second winner from Bright Eyes, a metro winning Bel Esprit mare, whose grand-dam is stakes-winner Dancing Pago, the dam of stakes-winners Pago Rock and Rock My Pago.

Exceedance

Exceedance has sired 33 winners this season of $2.6million and stands at Vinery Stud at a fee of $33,000 this spring.
