Three on the Trot for Zousain 3YO

Tara Madgwick - Sunday June 22

The Paul Shailer stable has been flying over the winter carnival and one of the stable stars has been Zousain gelding Mister Bianco, who made it three wins in succession when taking out the $150,000 Schweppes TL Cooney (1350m) at Ipswich on Saturday.

Sent out equal favourite after posting wins at the Gold Coast and Doomben, Mister Bianco kept up the good work for Andrew Mallyon to win by half a length over the other equal favourite Stay Focused, who was a stakes-winner Adelaide two starts back

"It is a credit to the horse. The penny is starting to drop and he is racing with confidence. Three months ago he wouldn't have won that race. He would have found a way to get himself beaten so it is good that he's got that killer instinct about him and he was really good off what was a strong tempo today,” said Paul Shailer.

"I know the track is playing quite leaderish, but they looked like the two best horses in the race - him and the second horse.”

A $70,000 Inglis Classic purchase for his trainer from the Ambergate Farm draft, Mister Bianco has the overall record of five wins and four placings from 12 starts with prizemoney topping $244,000.

Mister Bianco is the fourth winner from Group II placed Pins mare Orutan (NZ), a half-sister to the dam of Group I winner Pier and Group III winner Maria Farina from Group II winner Naturo.

Orutan produced another filly by Zousain last spring.

Zousain has sired 37 winners this season including three stakes-winners - Amelita, Drifting and Bellazaine - with his fee set at $27,500 this spring.
