Proisir Maintaining Momentum

Media Release - Tuesday June 17

Star Rich Hill Stud resident sire Proisir continued his impressive rise from humbler beginnings with further black-type success from a weekend haul of five winners across Australasia.

New Zealand’s champion sire of 2022/23 was credited with his 11th individual stakes winner of the 2024/25 season when son Pier thumped his rivals in the Listed The Wayne Wilson (1600m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

He was also represented by Te Rapa winners Soldier Boy, Procella and Timetoplaythegame while Procul Boy was successful at Wanganui.

Proisir now sits fifth behind Australasian heavyweights Snitzel, Written Tycoon, I Am Invincible and Zoustar on the combined Australian and New Zealand list of stakes winners this season.

His 11 stakes winners from 170 runners sees him recording 6.5% stakes winners to runners, second only to Snitzel (6.8%) among these elite sires.

The Group-winning son of Choisir has achieved his extraordinary feat with progeny conceived off service fees of $7000 and $9000 + GST, emphasising his consistent ability to upgrade mares.

“Proisir is entering a very exciting next phase in his stud career. We are looking forward to his better quality offspring, conceived over the last three breeding seasons, getting to the racetrack,” Rich Hill Managing Director John Thompson said.

With subsequent elite level mare support, Proisir’s 49 Book 1 youngsters at New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2025 National Yearling Sale averaged $233,000, and included three of the top five sellers at $1.1 million, $850,000 and $700,000.

His current weanling crop features 29 individuals from stakes winning race mares, 23 from stakes placed race mares, with 11 others half-siblings to stakes winners.

Proisir

Proisir has attracted support from New Zealand’s top breeders and Australian-based powerhouses Godolphin, Yulong, Emirates Park, Ridgeport Holdings, Ultra Thoroughbreds, GSA Bloodstock, Go Bloodstock, Makybe Stud, Fairway Thoroughbreds, Newhaven Park, Parsons Creek, Highgrove Stud and Yarraman Park Stud.

Proisir is the sire of 23 individual stakes winners including Group 1 success stories Levante Legarto, Prowess, Waitak, Dark Destroyer and Pier. He currently stands at $70,000 + GST.
