The most expensive breeze up horse ever sold in Australia when selling for $1million at the Inglis Ready 2 Race Sale last year, Written Tycoon filly Signature Scent made a winning debut at Bendigo on Saturday.
Bred and sold initially by Yulong at Inglis Easter for $200,000 to Dean Harvey’s Baystone Farm, she went back to the sales at two and was offered by Baystone, bought back by Yulong for $1million and given to Ciaron Maher.
A big scopey filly, Signature Scent has been given plenty of time and looked class above when cruising clear as a short priced favourite to win the 1100m juvenile maiden by a widening four lengths under Linda Meech.
Signature Scent is the fifth winner from five foals to race from dual Group I winning Savabeel mare Soriano, who comes from a quality New Zealand staying family that has also produced Group I NZ Derby winner Rocket Spade.
Soriano produced a colt by Written Tycoon last spring and is now in foal to Alabama Express.
