Inglis Internship applications open

Media Release - Monday June 2

An opportunity to work with Australia’s most progressive thoroughbred auction house has become available through the renowned Inglis Internship program.

The full-time role will provide the successful candidate the chance to gain an in-depth insight and understanding of all facets of the Inglis business, which has been in operation since 1867.

The successful applicant’s time will be predominantly spent within the bloodstock division, while also being exposed to the company’s marketing, insurance, digital and Rural Property divisions in both the Sydney and Melbourne offices.

They will also spend time with industry leaders, gaining an intimate understanding of pedigree and conformation evaluation which forms an integral part of the selection process for yearlings entered in the company’s annual yearling sale series, as well as being exposed to all senior Inglis staff members.

The internship will begin in the Spring of this year and last 12 months, with the possibility of future full-time employment with the company at its conclusion.

The position is open to Australia and New Zealand residents only and the applicants must be over the age of 20 and be licenced to drive.

Inglis Bloodstock CEO Sebastian Hutch said the opportunities that come with the Inglis Internship program were world class and urged all young and enthusiastic industry enthusiasts to apply for the role, no matter their current experience.

“Obviously there’s the Godolphin Flying Start Program, the Silverdale Academy, TBA Fast Track Program etc, all quality avenues for young people to enter the racing industry and the Inglis Internship Program is yet another way they can realise their dreams and join the industry we all love so much,’’ Hutch said.

“This program has proven a successful formula over many years, with alumni the likes of James Price, Peter Twomey, James Mitchell and popular incumbent bloodstock team member Will Gardner and we can’t wait to see who the latest successful applicant will be.

“We are very open minded as to who a successful candidate might be or where they might come from, whether you’re already working in the industry in some capacity or studying something equine related or are simply someone who has been passionately interested from afar and wants to take the leap and get paid to work in your dream role at Inglis.

“We have such a dynamic and enthusiastic team at Inglis at present, it really is very enjoyable coming into work every day, be it a sale day or an office day or an inspection day or a race day or whatever, there is a fabulous culture within the team and I’ve no doubt the successful applicant of this Internship will enjoy the morale and hard-working nature of the staffing group.

“I think the opportunity to work as part of an auction house environment is an incredible opportunity for any aspiring bloodstock professional. I cannot think of an organisation that can afford a person the depth and breadth of industry exposure that Inglis can and we are excited as to who the next Inglis Internship may unearth.

“This is a truly wonderful opportunity so I encourage everybody who thinks they might fit the bill to apply.’’

To apply for the Inglis Internship, send a current CV (with appropriate references) and a cover letter explaining why you feel you are a worthy candidate for this role to internship@inglis.com.au.

Applications close 5pm on Monday June 30.
