The Lindsay Park team produced an impressive juvenile winner at Pakenham on Thursday evening with King’s Legacy filly Bella Pietra winning as she pleased.
Third and second at her only two previous starts, Bella Pietra relished the step up in trip to 1400m giving Jamie Melham an easy steer to stroll home and win by three lengths.
“It’s my first sit on her tonight and you don’t get an easier or better educated horse than her,” said Jamie Melham.
“She was push button out there today. She’d have no trouble getting a mile either as she just comes back to you and goes to sleep.”
Passed in at Inglis Premier when offered by Blue Gum Farm, BellaPietra runs for an ownership group put together by Lindsay Park that includes her breeder Trilogy Racing.
Bella Pietra is the first winner for metro winning Pierro mare La Pietra, a grand-daughter of Group I Haydock Sprint Cup winner Pipalong.
She is the sixth winner for King’s Legacy, who has Group III winner Steel Trap on the board and two more stakes horses Queen’s Evidence and Born to Be Royal.
He stands at Coolmore at a fee of $16,500 this spring.
