$1.2million Written in Code Bought for Too Darn Hot

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday May 27

Talented I Am Invincible mare Written in Code very nearly went to the Magic Millions National; Sale as a Group III winner after her close second in the Dark Jewel Classic at Scone, but at the end of the day it mattered not as she still sold for $1.2million!

Consigned by Yarraman Park as agent, the five year-old mare is in career best form after working through her grades for the Annabel and Rob Archibald stable and has the overall record of four wins and seven placings from 15 starts with prizemoney just shy of $300,000.

She was purchased by McKeever Bloodstock for Watership Down Stud, who are currently involved in a very successful racing partnership with Yarraman Park as they co-own Royal Ascot contender Mgheera, read about her here.

“We have bought this for Lord and Lady Lloyd Webber for Watership Down Stud in England,” said Johnny McKeever.

“She will be kept here at Yarraman Park for them and will be bred to Too Darn Hot who they bred and raced.

“She’s a very good model for him - a big, strong girl. We might put her back in training for a little while more and see if we can get a group race win. She was placed the other day.

“It would have cost us a lot more had she won the black-type race. That was probably a good thing!”

An $800,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Annabel Neasham Racing / B McGuire  from the Tyreel Stud draft, Written in Code ran for an ownership group that includes her breeder Linda Monds of Tyreel Stud.

Written in Code is a half-sister to Group II placed Osamu from stakes-winning Written Tycoon mare Written Dash, who is now in Yulong ownership.
